Cross Skilling Triumphs: Success Story from Infotel India

Cross Skilling Triumphs : Success Story of Infotel India

What is Cross-Skilling?

Cross-skilling, or cross-training, focuses on training employees in new skills to handle multiple responsibilities beyond their current roles efficiently. It also refers to developing skills different from an individual’s primary skill set.
The new skill enables the employee to improve the productivity and performance of the project and to meet the ever-evolving demands of the organisation.

The idea of cross-skilling is to build the skills of everyone in the company. It’s rather than being confined to one specific area, cross-training provides employees with the flexibility to learn and manage tasks outside their niche of expertise. This also encourages employees to make right decisions to shift roles within the same organisation.

Why should organizations think of Cross-Skilling?

Increased Productivity

Enhanced Collaboration and Teamwork

Cross-skilling employees has a significant positive impact on employee productivity. In the absence of an employee, the task can be performed by another employee who is particularly cross trained on that specific technology. This ensures that there is no interruption in the work.

Improved collaboration and teamwork are encouraged through cross-training. People with a wide array of skills can share knowledge, collaborate, and assist one another in performing tasks.

Increases Workforce Sustainability

Engage and Retain Employees

When employees are trained in multiple competencies, they are well equipped to handle changes in business needs. For instance, if a team is exhausted with additional workload, an employee who is cross trained can help alleviate the workload

Employees can have improved personal and professional growth, feel motivated to do their best work, stay with the organisation for longer, and can expand their professional horizons. LinkedIn research reveals that 94% of employees say they’d stay at their company longer if they invested in career development, highlighting the importance of employee cross-training.

Promotes Continuous Improvement Mindset

A cross-skilled training programme helps employees stay abreast of recent updates in the industry, constantly seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge, which in turn helps the organisation stay ahead of the competition.

How We Conduct Cross-Skilling at Infotel India to Enhance Workforce Versatility ?

Structured Training Programs

We design structured training programs tailored to individual and team needs. We identify skill gaps and future requirements as per our client needs and design the targeted modules. These programs are conducted through different modes, like online courses, knowledge transfer from team, and hands-on projects.

Mentorship and Peer Learning

Mentorship plays a crucial role in cross-skilling where our experienced professionals at Infotel take up the responsibility to share their technical knowledge with the resources new to the technology. We believe this mentorship program not only facilitates skill transfer but also encourages team collaboration and improves productivity.

During this process, the knowledge transfer documents from the team are shared with the employees, which include technical documentation, project documentation, troubleshooting guides, etc. to enable the resources to perform their duties effectively.
